Mr. Lloyd Brown Dies Early Today
Proprietor of Brown Café Dies Following Year of Ill Health
John Lloyd Brown, 59, proprietor of the Brown cafe, died today about 5:00 a.m. at the Skiff Memorial hospital, in spite of efforts of the attending physician and the city fire department to keep him alive.
When Mr. Brown, who had been in poor health for the past year, became suddenly worse Sunday, the physician enlisted the aid of the fire department in applying the inhalator. Oxygen was supplied by the inhalator for two hours, the machine being kept in use while Mr. Brown was removed from his home to the hospital.
Definite funeral arrangements have not been made, as the family is awaiting word from a sister in West Virginia.
A native of Morgantown, W. Va., Mr. Brown had been in the restaurant business in Newton for the last nine years. He was previously engaged in the same business in North Dakota and Minnesota.
Surviving relatives include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Mavis Robinson and Alice Irene, and two sons, Wayne Lloyd and Stanley John, all of Newton; one grandchild, Richard Lowell Robinson of Newton, and one half-sister, Mrs. Frank Freeman of West Virginia.

Schedule Brown Rites For Thursday Afternoon
Funeral services for J. Lloyd Brown, 59, proprietor of the Brown café, will be conducted from the Murdoch funeral home Thursday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Fredrick D. Boldt, pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment will be in the Newton Union cemetery.
Mr. Brown died Monday morning at the Skiff Memorial hospital after a long period of ill health.

Conduct Rites For J. L. Brown
Services Held Thursday Afternoon For Newton Restaurant Owner.
Funeral services for J. Lloyd Brown, 59, proprietor of the Brown cafe, were conducted Thursday at 2:00 pm. by the Rev. Fredrick D. Boldt, pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran church.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Fred Reeve, who sang, “Face to Face” and “Abide With Me.” Lois Hundling played the organ accompaniment.
Interment was in the Newton Union cemetery, with the following serving as pall bearers: P. A. Young, Emory Moore, William Bruce, Quincy Hughes, Frank Conn, and Walter Jeanick.
Mr. Brown died Monday at the Skiff Memorial hospital, after collapsing Sunday. He had been in failing health for the past year.
