Mrs. Bitner Dies Following Stroke
Woman Dies Thursday Night at Home Northwest Of Mingo
CLEAR CREEK – Mrs. Wesley Bitner, about 60, died at her home northwest of Mingo Thursday at 11:30 p.m., following a stroke Monday. She had suffered a previous stroke in 1930.
Mrs. Bitner, who was Julia Parr before her marriage, was raised southwest of Maxwell. After her marriage, she and her husband lived for a short time near Maxwell and then moved to the present farm.
Her husband preceded her in death five years ago in August, 1931.
Surviving relatives are a son, Cecil, and a daughter, Mrs. Will Thompson, both of whom live near the home farm; two grandchildren, Selena Bitner and Johnny Thompson and two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Rouzer and Mrs. Ellen McQuiston of near Maxwell.
Funeral services will probably be held Sunday afternoon at the Indian Creek Brethren church south of Maxwell. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Bitner was a member of the Brethren denomination.

CLEAR CREEK – Funeral services for Mrs. W. W. Bittner were held at the Indian Creek Brethren church Sunday, Feb. 28, at two o’clock. Rev. Cokenower of Elkhart was in charge.
A quartet, Blanche Beals, Mrs. A. Gooden, James Beals and Harry Fackler sang, “Death Is Only A Dream” and “Going Down the Valley.” Mrs. Gooden and James Beals sang “In The Garden.” Dorothy Beals was pianist.
Mrs. J. H. Boyd and Mrs. Floyd Atwood had charge of the flowers.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Haley Jr., Walter Link, Eldon Eatwell, Floyd Atwood, Earnest Maxwell, Howard Maxwell.
Mrs. Bittner died at her home in this township Feb. 25, at 11:30 p.m. after a few days illness following a stroke of apoplexy.
She was born Julia Parr at Peoria, April 24, 1878, and grew up in that vicinity.
On Dec. 25, 1898, she was united in marriage to William Wesley Bittner of this vicinity. They lived near Peoria a few years and moved to their home where they lived more than thirty years. Mr. Bittner died Aug. 18, 1931. One son Sylvester, died in infancy.
Surviving are two children, Cecil Bittner and Mrs. William Thompson; two grandchildren, Selena Bittner and Johnny Thompson, and two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Ed McQuiston, Mrs. Clarence Rouzer, and Jesse Parr of Maxwell and Ben Parr, of Des Moines.
Mrs. Bittner was a life-long member of the Indian Creek Brethren church.
