Levi Surber was born in West Virginia, July 29, 1832, and died on April 11, 1914. He married Jerusha Whited in 1855. Six children: C.C. Surber, Mrs. Granville Painter, Esther Wallace, L.A. Surber and Kate Shearer. His wife died April 27, 1874. In 1879, he married Jenny Shelta. Burial Prairie City. ~ Prairie City News

Submitter's Comments: This obit says burial Prairie City, but he is actually buried at Vandalia with Jerusha.

Note from Barbara Surber Spitzner. I am a great grand-daughter of Levi and Jerusha (Jarusha spell?) SURBER. I have just found the obit posted by Deb Keller. How exciting! The sixth child of Levi and Jerusha was Andrew Jackson Surber, (my grandfather.) He is buried in the state of Washington, where he died in 1915.
