Dr. Henri Gourhame was born in Green Co., Ohio, March 23, 1829 and died at his home in Vandalia Nov. 15, 1898. He was married to Hannah M. Price, Oct. 18, 1866. Two daughters were born to them, Effie and Mary, the latter dying in childhood and Effie dying Aug. 10, 1894.

He was an active member of the Methodist Church.

The funeral services were held at M. E. Church Thursday at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Kephart, after which he was laid to rest in the Vandalia Cemetery.~ The Newton (IA) Record Thursday, November 24, 1898
