Services For Mrs. Agnes Allan Today
Mrs. William (Agnes) Alan, 84, a resident of the Baxter community the majority of her life, passed away at 9 a.m. Saturday at her home in Baxter. Mrs. Allan suffered a stroke Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Baxter Congregational Christian church. The Rev. Harry E. Boughey, pastor of the church, will conduct the services and burial will be in Restland cemetery. The Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Allan is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Butler of Baxter and Mrs. Margaret Tefferteller of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Janet Allan of Baxter; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and two sisters.
The daughter of James and Janet Galloway, Mrs. Allan was born December 10, 1872, at Saline, Scotland. She came to the United States in 1885, settling, with her parents on a farm west of Baxter. Educated in rural schools, Mrs. Allan was married to William Allan in 1893.
They lived for 12 years on a farm west of Baxter before moving to Glenwood Springs, Colo., and three years later to Seattle, Wash. After six years in Seattle they returned to a farm west of Baxter and in 1926 retired and moved to Baxter.
