PRAIRIE CITY - Helen M. Daft, 97, of Prairie City died Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Clearview Manor in Prairie City. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax with the Rev. Paul Elliot officiating. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery In Prairie City.

Friends may call today at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends Friday at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials will be accepted to the Howard Street Christian Church or Clearview Manor.

The daughter of John C. and Cora M. Jarnagin Price, she was born Oct. 30, 1903, in Galesburg. On Feb. 13, 1924, she married J. Edward Daft in Newton. She and her husband lived and farmed in Washington Township, Jasper County. She was a homemaker, a member of Howard Street Christian Church and a member of the church's ladies group. After her husband's death, she moved to Prairie City.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley P. and Patricia of rural Prairie City; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Marion Terlouw of Prairie City; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded In death by her husband, a daughter, her parents, three sisters and two brothers. ~ Newton (Iowa) Daily News 20 September 2001
