C. Elaine O'Roake, 79, of 2813 S. Second Ave. E. died Monday, Sept. 6, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton the Rev. Ernest Braida officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Newton. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and after 6 p.m. at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the church with visitation following the service at the McCann Center. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County or to Sacred Heart Cemetery.
The daughter of Evan Morgan and Laura Kerr, she was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Albia. She graduated from Albia High School in 1943. On July 7, 1949, she married J. Francis O'Roake in Albia. She was an office manager for United Telephone Co. and was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John P. and Cheryl O'Roake and Kevin M. O'Roake, all of Newton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane and Tom Altenhofen and Suzanne O'Roake, all of Newton; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Marcella White of Corallville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin granddaughters; four sisters, Gladys Erickson, Juanita Fall, Jeanetta Richie and Phyllis Benson; two brothers, Thomas Morgan and Jack Morgan.
