STONY POINT, N.Y. -- James F. Henchy, 51, of Stony Point, N.Y., formerly of Newton, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 16 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, N.Y. Memorials will be accepted to The Make A Wish Foundation in his name.

Michael J. Higgins Funeral Services in Stony Point, N.Y. handled arrangements.

The son of Mary and Michael Henchy, he was born Jan. 17, 1952, in New York City. He lived in Pomona, N.Y., and Cornwall, N.Y., as well as in Newton and several other locations in Iowa. He served as a military policeman during the Vietnam War. He graduated from Albertus Magnus High School and was a college graduate with a degree in criminal justice. He worked as a deputy with the U.S. Marshalls office, and also worked for the North Rockland School District.

Survivors include a son, James of Newton; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Patricia; and four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Alex Jamieson, Betty and Jim Brand, Eileen and Cliff Roma and Julia Ruderman.
