Harold L. Brayton, 75, of Newton died Monday, Sept. 6, at the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Services will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton handled arrangements.
Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County and may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Wilbur A. and Anna Marie (White) Brayton, he was born July 14, 1929, in Newton. He graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1949. On Aug. 5, 1950, he married Martha J. Sheeler, in Monroe. He worked for the Maytag Company for 39 years and was a supervisor when he retired in 1989. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Maytag Management Company. He was a lifelong resident of Newton.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Sid Gimre of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Jana and Hank Turney of Newton; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Bob Brayton of Killduff and Don Brayton of Ankeny; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Gary Skiles of Marco Island, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
