Earl Lawton, Died April 24, Rites April 28
Earl Lawton, 63, Chelan, Washington, a former resident of Colfax, died Sunday, April 24 at Community Hospital, Wenatchee, Washington.
Rosary was held at Frecht Rose Chapel in Chelan April 27 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were held at St. Francis Catholic Church April 28 at 11 a.m. with Fr. John Schindler celebrant with burial in Riverview Cemetery.
The son of Bert and Mildred Short Lawton, he was born October 14, 1919 at Laurel, Iowa and lived in Jasper County. He was educated in the Colfax Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1937. He did construction work while in Colfax. In 1961 he joined the Forestry Services in Washington State and was retired in 1981 because of ill health.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax and the Eagles Lodge in Chelan.
Survivors include three sisters, Esther Krohn, Chelan; Alice Whitney, Watervliet, Michigan and Mary Batey, Quincy, Washington; two brothers Keith of Des Moines and Bert Jr., Long Beach, California; and 20 nieces and nephews.

Relatives attending the funeral included May Batey Dan, Dale and Doug Batey, Cheryl Lawton, Quincy, Washington, James Batey, San Diego, CA, Bob Krohn, Portland, OR, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lawton Jr., Long Beach, CA, Keith Lawton, Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. David Krohn, Kennewick, Washington.
