Lenore Jean Skow, 84, of Newton died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Memorial graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Newton Union Cemetery. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
No visitation is planned. Memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of William Louis and Violet Hazel (Wilson Guthrie) Aillaud, she was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Newton. She was a graduate of Newton Senior High School. On Feb. 19, 1942, she married Harold O. Skow at the Lutheran Church in Newton. She was owner of The Yarn Barn in Newton and a homemaker.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Newton, Theta Chi Sorority, past secretary of Iowa Women Golf Association for five years and a member of the Jasper County Historical Society. She enjoyed playing golf and was an artist, a painter and piano player.

Survivors include her husband; a niece, Eva Steal; great-niece, Ashley Young; and great-nephew, Kory Young. ~ Newton Daily News, Monday, October 18, 2004
