GRINNELL -- William J. Hauersperger, 62, of rural Grinnell, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at his home.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Newburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to William J. Hauersperger Memorial Fund.

The son of Henry and Elizabeth (McClean) Hauersperger, he was born March 17, 1942, in Gilman. He attended Newburg schools. On Jan. 12, 1964, he married Elizabeth Davis at the Hickory Grove Church near Newburg. The couple farmed near Newburg and in 1987 moved to Grinnell. He was a custodial supervisor at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. The couple moved to acreage south of Grinnell in 1994. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church and a trustee of the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Henry Hauersperger of Grinnell; one daughter, Christine Stockman of West Des Moines; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Henrietta Bogan of State Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
