RUSSELL -- George W. Evans, 92, of Russell, formerly of Ira, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center in Chariton.

Funeral services were held today at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton with the Rev. Paul Olson officiating. Burial was at Graham Cemetery in Mingo.

He was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Ira. He served in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Pearl (Miller) Evans; two sons, Ronald Lynn Evans of Newton and John Wayne Evans of Oskaloosa; a daughter, Rose Marie Fisher of Newton; and five grandchildren.
