Metz - Died, at his home two and one half miles west of Metz, May 8, Mr. Bond, aged 78 years.

On Wednesday, May 1st, William Bond, one of the early settlers of Mound Prairie Township, died of dropsy. He was 78 years of age, and the greater part of his life was spent in the neighborhood where he died and had every enjoyed the respect of all who knew him. He was a spiritualist in his belief and the funeral services were conducted by Mrs. Dr. Turner and Mrs. Frank Pearce, of Colfax, and Dr. Engle of this city. ~ The Newton Record, Friday, May 17, 1895, Page 5, Column 3
