An Infant’s Sudden Death

The circumstances of the death of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Blair’s baby daughter, Marie Louise, last Sunday morning, were such as to touch a chord of sympathy in the heart of every father and mother. The little one seemed to be in perfect health; about 6:20 Sunday Morning Mrs. Blair gave it its breakfast, and afterward, as the baby seemed to be in a playful mood, she lay and toyed with it for about an hour, the little one cooing and laughing at her caresses. Finally it seemed to drop off to sleep, and the mother, turning to give it a kiss, was horror stricken to find her darling dead. A physician was called, but nothing could warm into life the body of the little darling. She was a little over nine weeks old. The funeral services were held at the home on Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. C. V. Cowan. ~ The Newton Record Thursday, Newton, IA, February 3, 1898
