CEDAR FALLS — Carol Rae Biehl, 43, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Newton, died from complication of multiple sclerosis Friday, Feb. 8, at her home. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Newton with the Rev. David Smiley, interim pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Private family burial will be held at Newton Union Cemetery at a later date. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. The family will greet friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Memorials will be accepted in her name and may be left at the church or the funeral home

The daughter of Wayne E. Biehl and Nancy R. Stevens, she was born Dec. 24, 1958, in Newton. She was a 1977 graduate of Monroe High School. She had lived in Monroe and Newton before moving to Cedar Falls in 1996. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Newton

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Nancy R. and Ken Townsend of Newton, and her father Wayne E. Biehl of Knoxville, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Wayne W. and Robyn of Ankeny and Randy of Las Vegas, Nev., two sisters and a brother-in-law, Debra and Mike Schuring of Pella and Nancy A. Shultz of Cedar Falls, a step-sister, Dianna Townsend of Grinnell, step-sister-in-law Phyliss Townsend of O’Fallon, Ill., and many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, a stepbrother and a niece, and a nephew. ~ Newton Daily News 11 February 2002
