Lost Their Baby Girl

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bentley lost their six-week-old daughter last Sunday evening, under peculiarly sad circumstances. The little one had been suffering from whooping cough for several weeks, but was not thought to be dangerously ill. Sunday evening while lying in its mother’s arms, it had a violent attack of coughing, which quieted down, and Mrs. Bentley thought it had gone to sleep. But she was horrified a few minutes later to find that the little one had ceased to breath and lay lifeless in her arms. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery near Amboy, at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Bentley are in deep grief on account of their loss and have the tenderest sympathy of everybody. ~ The Newton Record, Newton, IA, Thursday, July 13, 1899
