Death of Mrs. Benshoof

Grandma Benshoof [Mary Ellis Benshoof], widow of the late Peter Benshoof, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Walker, at Angus, Iowa, on Tuesday morning, and the remains brought to Newton yesterday morning and buried beside her husband in our cemetery.

hey were accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Walker, her son Peter Benshoof of Bancroft, and her aged brother Mr. Henry Ellis of Lake Park, and were met here by another daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Burchard, and other friends from Kellogg.

Brief services were held at the grave by Rev. C. V. Cowan.

Mother Benshoof was formerly well known here, having resided in Newton for many years. Her husband died about two years ago. Her age was about seventy-three.

She was a good old Christian woman, highly respected by everybody. ~ The Newton Record, Newton, IA, Thursday, June 22, 1899
