Mrs. N. J. Benshoof died at her home in Buckeye Township, Hardin County, Iowa, Saturday, July 6, 1895, at 3 p. m., aged sixty-nine years and five months.

Nancy Jane Steel was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, February 6, 1826. She was a sister-in-law of our townsman, P. L. Benshoof. The deceased was a Christian woman, a member of the Presbyterian Church for nearly fifty years, but for the last three or four years she had been a member of the Congregational Church.

Her remains were laid to rest in the Buckeye Cemetery beside her departed husband, Samuel Benshoof, who died September 13, 1885. ~ The Newton Record, Friday, August 16, 1895, Page 7, Column 6
