Last evening at six o’clock Mrs. Catherine Mace, who has been ill all winter, passed away at her home on the corner of South and Mechanic Streets. Mrs. Mace was seventy-five years of age. Long years ago she resided in Jasper County, but moved to Pennsylvania where she spent twenty-eight years. About ten years ago she returned to this city and has since been a resident here, living alone until her health made it necessary to have some one with her.

During the winter Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wheeler were with her, but the last week Mrs. Eva Harsh has been caring for her.

Deceased is a sister of John Trevitts, who lives southeast of Newton.

The funeral will be held tomorrow, Saturday, afternoon at 2 o’clock at the United Presbyterian Church. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Friday, May 3, 1907, Page 1, Column 2
