Death Of Joker Beckham At Marshalltown
George “Joker” Beckham, 71, died Wednesday morning, January 19th at his home in Marshalltown of a malignancy. He had been in failing health for the last 2 years.
He was born at Oswalt and spent most of his young life in Colfax. He was married to the former Mary James. Following marriage they lived in Colfax a number of years, later living at Newton for a short time and then moving to Marshalltown, where they have resided over 30 years.
He is the brother of Henry Beckham and an uncle of Harry Barbour of Colfax.
Survivors are his wife, Mary; one son; three daughters and several grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters.
A son, George Beckham Jr. preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be ehdl at 1 p.m. Saturday at Estel Perrin Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery. Graveside rites will be at 2:45 p.m.
