Mrs. Clyde Hendee Died Saturday At Newton
Julia Rebecca Jones Hendee, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William W. Jones of Colfax, was born Nov. 14th, 1901 at Colfax, Iowa and passed away at the Skiff hospital in Newton, Iowa, on July 23, 1966.
She received her education in the Colfax Public School. She was married to Clyde Hendee of Colfax, Dec. 22, 1917. To this union four children were born.
Mrs. Hendee was a member of the Colfax Christian Church. She was afflicted with arthritis for the past 22 years, being an invalid the last 8 years. She was a devoted wife and mother and took great delight in her two grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a son, William E., her parents, an infant brother and brother, Lexaus C. Jones.
Left to mourn her passing are her devoted husband Clyde; daughter Mrs. Frank (Laura) Annis; two sons, Robert and Richard Hendee; two grandchildren, Mrs. Jim (Sharon) Brashear and William E. Annis, all of Colfax. Also surviving are four brothers, Paul and Donald Jones of Colfax, James Jones of East Moline, Illinois and Wren Jones of Long Beach, California; two sisters, Mrs. F. E. (Juanita) Wilson of Des Moines and Mrs. Raymond (Eleanor) Zachary of Colfax; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 26th at 2 p.m. at the Colfax Christian Church, Rev. Walter Goughnour, minister of the Prairie City Christian Church and Rev. Anthony Pettrone, minister of the Colfax Christian Church, conducted the services.
Mrs. Darrold Hunter was the soloist and Miss Eleanor Howell was organist.
Pallbearers were Morris Annis, Floyd Clippinger, James Meilor, Arthur Slatkoske, James Thomas and Allan Wheeler.
Serving on the flower committee were Mrs. Floyd Clippinger, Mrs. Paul Gannon and Mrs. Darlene Stier.
Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
