June Bergman Services Set For Thursday
Funeral services for June M. Bergman, 76, of 423 S. 3rd Ave. W., a native of Newton who has resided here since 1966, will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.
The Rev. Phillip Friedeman, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services. Cremation services will follow.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Reese chapel after 1 o’clock this afternoon.
Survivors are two nephews, Marvin Enochs of Parkville, Mo., and Max Enochs of La Puente, Calif., and three great-nieces, Debra Enochs and Laurie Enochs, both of La Puente, Calif., and Jane Ann Enochs of Parkville, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Elsie Enochs and Gertrude Bergman.
Miss Bergman, who taught school in Florida for many years, went to Washington, D.C., in the early 1930s where she worked for many years for various departments of government including the treasury department. She retired in 1960.
The daughter of Christopher and Emma Wehrman Bergman, she was born June 15, 1900 on a farm north of Newton, was educated in rural Jasper County schools and was graduated from Newton Community High School.
