Mrs. Arthur (Mary Jane) Thomas Dies
Mrs. Arthur (Mary Jane) Thomas, 87, died Tuesday, May 8, 1973 at the Skiff Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) May 10th at 2 p.m. at the Colfax United Methodist Church. Rev. W. Leonard Rowse, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kennedy, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Amelia Brant of Colfax; four sons, Gomer of Newton, David of San Francisco, Calif., James and Arthur of Colfax; one sister, Mrs. Alice Davidson and one brother, James Pratt, both of Colfax; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband November 18, 1941; two sons, William and Phillip and two daughters, Gladys and Phyllis.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Pocahontas Lodge, in Colfax.
The daughter of Joseph and Sarah Jordan Pratt, she was born July 17, 1885 in Excelsior, Iowa. On December 24, 1901, she united in marriage to Arthur Thomas in Seevers, Iowa and they moved to Colfax in 1911.
Organist: Miss Eleanor Howell will accompany soloist, Mrs. Darrold Hunter.
Bearers are: Morris Wilson, Robert Hybl, Dick Hendee, James Pease, John Bale jr., David Williams and Rick Susic, alternate.
