Services For Hallie E. Carter Held Wednesday
Funeral services for Hallie E. Carter, 75, were held Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1972 at 2 p.m. at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax. The Rev. Robert Jones, minister of the Colfax Christian Church, conducted the services. The bearers were Eben Van Dusseldorp Jr., Lloyd Carter, Gloyd Carter, Raymond Morgan, Hollis Morgan and Melvin Van Dusseldorp.
Mrs. Melvin Van Dusseldorp and Mrs. Raymond Bell were in charge of the flowers.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Prairie City.
Mr. Carter resided in Des Moines several years and since 1968 had been a resident at Clear View Manor in Prairie City.
The son of Irwin and Mary Etta Cowman Carter he was born Dec. 20, 1896 at Percy in Marion County, Iowa.
He died Sept. 4, 1972 at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Mr. Carter was a member of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church of Prairie City and the International Association of Machinists, Local 479, of Des Moines.
He was employed at the Eagle Iron Works in Des Moines before retirement. In his younger years he was employed at bridge construction work in Oklahoma.
Survivors are a son, Larry Carter of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Vera Morgan of Newton and Mrs. Velma Reese of Colfax, and a brother, Clarence Carter of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
