This afternoon the remains of James R. Wykoff were brought to Newton for burial. The funeral was held in Des Moines, and at the chapel at the cemetery here the last funeral rites were held, Rev. W. W. Hess of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Mr. Wykoff was a veteran of the Civil War, a member of the Twenty-second Iowa Volunteers, and was discharged form service for disability. He was one of the earliest settlers of this city and was one of the charter members of the Presbyterian Church Society organized fifty-one years ago.

The remains were accompanied to this city by his son, Alfred Wykoff and wife, his daughter, Mrs. James R. Martin, at whose home 3911 Ingersol Avenue, Des Moines, his death occurred Saturday morning, Mr. Martin and two daughters, and another daughter of the deceased, Miss Ella Wykoff. ~ The Newton Daily News, Monday, April 8, 1907, Page 4, Column 1
