Mrs. Catherine Hill Died at Newton Hospital
Mrs. Catherine Hill, 76, died at 4:20 Monday morning in the Skiff hospital at Newton. She had entered the hospital about ten days previous for treatment of a heart condition following a severe attck. She had been hospitalized for some length of time during the winter.
Catherine Ann Hill was born May 12th, 1876, the daughter of John and Mary Naisbitt Kennedy, at Aitchison, Illinois. She had spent sixty years of her life in Colfax and vicinity.
She was united in marriage to David Davidson and to this union a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Nellie) Daily now of Austin, Minnesota, and Robert Davidson of Colfax were born. She was later married to Alexander Hill at Colfax. He preceded her in death in 1948. Five sons were born to this union.
Mrs. Hill was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and also of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was kind and loving in disposition, was a good wife, loving mother and wonderful neighbor and friend.
Surviving are her children, Mrs. Paul Daily of Austin, Minnesota, Robert Davidson of Colfax, Raymond and George Hill of Mingo, James, Francis and Paul Hill of Colfax. Twenty three grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Gibson of Colfax, Mrs. Elizabeth Ward and Nellie Murray of Des Moines and four brothers, George and Thomas Kennedy of Carbon Cliff, Illinois and John and James Kennedy of Gillispie, Illinois and a host of friends also mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Walter McEleney officiating.
Mrs. Florence Schroder and Miss Myra Johnson were the flower committee.
Pall bearers were grandsons, David Davidson, Gene Davidson, Raymond Hill Jr., Harold Hill, Wayne Hill and Glenn Hill.
Interment was in the Colfax cemetery.
