J. C. Shattuck Dies at 92
Joseph C. Shattuck, 92, died at his home in east Colfax, December 8th, 1938, following an illness of the past several months. He was born at Casenovia, New York, June 23, 1846. His parents of Quaker descent were among the first settlers in that part of New York and he lived on the farm on which he was born until coming to Colfax.
Shortly after his wife died Mr. Shattuck came to Colfax to visit a friend who had come west, and decided to make this his home. Most of the time he has been here he lived alone on East Division street, but when his health failed this spring, a niece Lillian Shattuck of New York and Florida came to care for him and remained until the end.
Short funeral services were conducted Saturday morning from the Cutter-Hartnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Russell G. Nye of the Methodist Church officiating.
Miss Shattuck accompanied the body of her uncle to New Woodstock, N.Y., Saturday where interment will be had.
