Irene Snow was born in Cochoeton county, Ohio, July 13, 1849. When a child she came to Galesburg, Ill. with her parents. January 4, 1866 she was united in marriage to Henry Maxwell at Galesburg, Ill. They lived in Missouri and at Knoxville a few years and then came to Clear Creek, Jasper Co., in 1877. The past 35 years she lived on a farm near Center school. She passed on Thursday, Sept. 8, 1925, after ten days illness, age 76 years. She united with M. P. church early in life and with Congregational church at Ashton in 1914. She was the mother of nine children, five of whom survive: Oscar, of Elk City, Idaho; Chas. Of Collins and Bert of Mingo; Mr. M. and four girls, Alice Lightner, Ida Galloway, Cora Cleverly and Pearl Snook passed on. One half-sister Charlotte Hanson of Kansas City survives; 34 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at Ashton Saturday at 2 p.m. by Abe Kern of Des Moines. A double quartet sang. Six grandsons were bearers. Interment at Ashton.
