Mrs. Martin Luther
Wilhelmina Ulrich was born on the 29th of March, 1855, at Wimpfen Am Berg, Hesse Darmstadt, Germany. She departed this life at five o’clock Sunday morning, the 20th of January 1918, aged 62 years, 10 months and 21 days.
Upon her marriage to Martin Luther in Watertown, Wisconsin, on February 24, 1878, she assumed the responsibility of a mother to six foster children. They were George, Edward, August, Martin, Carrie and Emma. These she served faithfully as a mother.
To this union were born ten children: Mary, who died, Minnie, Albert, John, Otto, Richard, Karl, Laura, Walter and Clarence.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Loehr of Tomah, Wis., and Mrs. Martin of Silvertown, Oregon.
Mrs. Luther signified her Christian faith early in life, being confirmed in the German Lutheran church at the age of fourteen. In that faith she lived a mother’s devoted life; and in that faith she has left her children a great hope and a shielding comfort.
The funeral services were conducted at Hooper, Nebraska, on Tuesday, January 24th, at the Logan Creek church. The Rev. E. G. Williams, of Colfax, Iowa, officiated, assisted by the Rev. F. DeFreese of Hooper, Nebraska.
Interment was in the Logan Creek cemetery.
