Illness Fatal To A. Geenen, Sully
Baker of Many Years Dies Following Three Months’ Illness
Sully, July 14 – Special to the Daily News – A. Geenen, for many years a resident of this city, died at his home here last evening at 12:30 o’clock after an illness of the past three months during which time he suffered with diabetes. He was 70 years and three months old.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Geenen home and at 2 o’clock from the Christian Reform church. Burial will be in the Sully cemetery. Rev. H. Blystra, pastor of the Christian Reform church, Rev. R. A. DeJong, pastor of the First Reform church and Rev. Edd Thompson, pastor of the Community church, will be in charge.
Mr. Geenen was born in Holland and came to America, July 16, 1914 settling at once in Sully where, with his family, he has since operated a bakery. He also had a second bakery at New Sharon, Ia.
He is survived by his widow and by five children, John of New Sharon, Mrs. Andrew Verfendaal of Kellogg, Dr. Case Geenen of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Dick and Bertha at Sully.

Geenen Services Are Held at Sully
Sully, July 16 – Special to The Daily News – Funeral services for A. Geenen, baker here for a number of years, were held this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Geenen home and at 2 o’clock from the Christian Reform church. Burial was in the Sully cemetery.
Mr. Geenen came to Sully in 1914 from Holland and had since operated a bakery here. He also owned a bakery in New Sharon, Ia.

Will
A paper purporting to be the last will and testament of A. Geenen of Sully has been filed in the office of H. F. Cassidy, clerk of the court. After all debts are paid the paper directs a transfer be made of all real and personal property to his wife, Maria Geenen. In the event of her marrying a second time, she is to forfeit all but one third of the property, the other two-thirds being divided equally between his children or their heirs. At the death of Mrs. Geenen the entire property is to be divided equally between his children or their heirs. His son, Dick Geenen, was named executor.
