Deeter, Martha Richmond – 1861-1932

Funeral services were held at Baxter, Tuesday afternoon, for Mrs. Robert Deeter, age 80. Burial was in the Baxter cemetery.
Martha Richmond was born in Independence township, Jasper county, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1861, and spent all her life in the vicinity of Baxter, except a few years in Missouri and Nebraska. She died Sunday, May 15, 1932, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ude Bucklin, after being helpless from a stroke, suffered Feb. 11, 1932.
She was united in marriage to Robert Deeter, Jan. 2, 1867. They had nine children. Daniel, Anderson and Mrs. Rosa Hickman preceded her, six survive, Mrs. Sarah Bucklin, Mrs. Earnest Luing of Clear Creek, Mrs. Emma Sutton of Ira, Mrs. Pearl Brown of New Providence, Louis Deeter of Ira and Lee Deeter of Newton. The husband died Mar. 9, 1931.
Mrs. Deeter united with the Bethel Wesleyan Methodist church in 1894 and was always interested in her church, her home, and her friends.
