Joseph Fisher died last night about midnight at his home 732 First Street, having been ill only a brief time. He had been troubled with asthma and last evening when he suffered an attack it was thought that it was his old trouble. A physician was summoned but before he arrived he had passed away. The cause of his death is supposed to have been heart failure.
Mr. Fisher has lived in Newton for the past twelve or fifteen years and during that time has been a faithful section hand on the Rock Island Railroad.
While at work in this capacity last November he was struck by an east bound train in the yard and injured so that he was confined to his home several weeks. After recovering from these injuries he seemed very well and had been attending to his work as usual.
The funeral will be held some time Sunday, but full arrangements have not been completed. ~ The Newton (Iowa) Daily News, Thursday, March 14, 1907, Page 4, Column 3
