Last evening the remains of Garret Annyas, whose death occurred at the hospital for the insane at Independence, was brought to this city by his brother, Jake Annyas and R. S. Wheatcraft, and the funeral and interment took place this afternoon at Wild Cat Grove [Palo Alto Cemetery].

Deceased had always been afflicted but had only been an inmate of Independence Hospital about a year and a half. His last illness, which resulted fatally, was of two days duration. He was thirty-three years of age and was the son of Mrs. L. M. Annyas of South Vine Street, who moved from Marshall County to this city last spring.

Besides his mother, he leaves one brother, Jane Annyas of this city and seven sisters, Mrs. J. T. Morris of Kellogg, Mrs. Louis Altemeier two miles south of town, Mrs. R. S. Wheatcraft, who also resides here and Marie, Hannah, Margaret and Rose, who are at home with the mother. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, IA, Friday, March 8, 1907, Page 1, Column 4
