The remains of Joseph Whittaker, whose sudden death occurred at Dawson, New Mexico last Saturday arrived in the city this morning accompanied by the wife and little son, Arthur, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McKinley, his sister, Mrs. Frank Cameron and her husband and his sister, Miss Jennie Whittaker.

In the accident which took Mr. Whittaker’s life another life was instantly taken and two men were seriously injured.

At first, and even after Mr. Whittaker was taken to the hospital, it was not thought that he was so seriously injured but what he could recover. Be he was injured internally and passed away about four o’clock Saturday afternoon.

He leaves besides his wife and little son, Arthur, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Whittaker, one brother, John Whittaker, who resides with his parents and four sisters, Mesdames Chas. Guthrie and Carl Parks, who live southeast of town, Mrs. Frank Cameron and Miss Jennie Whittaker of Dawson, New Mexico.

Deceased was about forty years of age. His native state was Pennsylvania, but he came west with his parents when only five years of age.

The funeral will be tomorrow, Thursday, afternoon at 2 o’clock from the First Methodist Church. ~ The Newton Daily News, Wednesday, February 6, 1907, Page 1, Column 3
