Reasnor Resident Dies Last Night
George Gunsaulus, 75, Dies After Short Illness
Reasnor, Dec. 17 – Special – George Gunsaulus, 75, died at 6:20 o’clock last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bernard Shaffer, north east of Reasnor, after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at Grace Chapel with Rev. Pritchard of Reasnor and Rev. Howell of Killduff in charge. Burial will be in the Palo Alto cemetery.
George Gunsaulus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gunsaulus, was born in Ohio on Dec. 26, 1854. He was married to Susan Foster and to this union six children were born, all of whom survive. They are, Hannah Pentico, Ethel Wilcox, Goldie Shaffer, Hilda Conn and Frank Gunsaulus all of Newton and Howard, at home. His widow also survives him.

Reasnor, Dec. 19 – Special – Funeral services for George Edmond Gunsaulus, 75, who died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bernard Shaffer, were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Grace Chapel with Rev. Pritchard of Reasnor and Rev. Howell of Killduff in charge. Burial was in the Palo Alto cemetery.
George Edmond Gunsaulus, son of Peter and Matilda Gunsaulus, was born near Chesterville, Ohio, on Dec. 26, 1854 and came with his parents to Iowa at the age of two years. They lived first at Sandyville, moving later to Jasper county.
On Jan. 14, 1866 he was united in marriage to Susie Alta Foster at Greenfield, Ia., where they lived until the spring of 1897 when they moved to Jasper county and have made their home in this county since that time. To this union six children were born, Mrs. Ethel Wilcox, Mrs. Goldie Shaffer, Mrs. Hannah Pentico, Mrs. Hilda Conn and Frank and Howard Gunsaulus, all living in or near Newton.
Four years ago, because of failing health he moved to Reasnor, where he lived until Nov. 1 of last year, at that time moving to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Shaffer.
He was a member of the Grace Chapel Methodist church for a number of years and later moved his membership to the Methodist church at Reasnor.
Besides his widow and children he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Viola Kirkpatrick of Reasnor, Mrs. James Turner and Mrs. Della Proctor of Des Moines, besides a number of grandchildren.
