Newton Resident Dies yesterday
Mrs. Robert Gibson, 81, Dies After Illness Of Four Days
Mrs. Robert Gibson died yesterday afternoon at 2:45 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Calkins, 214 West Twelfth street South, after a serious illness of the past four days.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock at the Morgan Funeral home tomorrow with Elder G. J. Jones of Knoxville in charge. Burial will be in the Wittemberg cemetery.
Charlotte Emma Gibson, widow of the late Robert Gibson of Newton, Ia., was born in Lancashire, Eng., March 13, 1854. She came with her parents to Jasper county when a small child and has resided here since that time.
She has been in poor health for a number of years and since falling and breaking her hip a few years ago, has been confined to a wheeled chair.
She united with the Primitive Baptist church in early womanhood and had been active in church work as long as her health permitted her to do so.
She is survived by two sons, W. A. Holmes of Newton and R. L. Gibson of Des Moines and one daughter Mrs. James Calkins of Newton, besides a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
