Lynnville Woman Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Stella Gauze Dies at 1:30 Following Two Major Operations
Lynnville, Oct. 19 – Special – Mrs. Stella Gauze of this city, died this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. She was taken to the Skiff Memorial hospital at Newton on Tuesday morning where she submitted to a major operation. Another operation was deemed necessary and was performed early this morning.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer Gauze, six children, Afton, Leulla, Mary, Eula, Birdena and Roy, besides other relatives. Two children preceded her in death.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
Source: Newton Daily News; Saturday, October 19, 1929Lynnville, Oct. 22 – Special – Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Main Gause, who died at the Skiff Memorial hospital, Saturday at 1:30 o’clock following two operations, were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Friends church with Rev. Williard Reynolds, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in the Friends cemetery.
Stella Main, daughter of Aaron and Martha Main, was born Dec. 2, 1881. She attended school at Hazel Dell and later graduated from a two year course in the Searsboro high school. She taught for two years following her graduation, in the public schools in Poweshiek County.
On Jan. 15, 1902 she was united in marriage to Elmer Gause. Eight children were born to this union, Edwin and Ada Ferne, who preceded their mother in death, and Afton, Leulla, Mary, Eula, Berdina and Roy.
Besides her family, she is survived by her parents, four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Doud and Mrs. Ada Naylor of Grinnell, and Mrs. Cora Bailey and Mrs. Effie Jacques of Denver, three brothers, Charles of Newton and Joshua and Aaron of Searsboro.
She united in 1916 with the Friends church of Lynnville and was an active member until the time of her death.
