This morning early, Marie, the thirteen-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Benedict, passed away after several months of intense suffering from kidney trouble. Her affliction dates back several years, but since last December her condition has been quite serious.

Marie came with her parents last fall from Des Moines, where they had resided only a few months. Their former home being New Sharon.

Her health was such that it was impossible for her to take up schoolwork here, but she had made friends among those with whom she associated, and had the sympathy of all because of her suffering.

Besides her father and mother in the home, there are three little ones, who will miss their eldest sister so much, and she will be missed in the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Turner, where she often visited before the family moved here.

The funeral will be held from the residence on South Farmer Street, Sunday at 2 p.m. and the interment will be in the Newton Cemetery. ~ The Newton Daily News, Friday, February 15, 1907, Page 1, Column 3
