Death of James Warrick
James Warrick, son of John and Mary Jane Warrick, was born July 2, 1864, in Halifax, England, and passed away at the Polyclinic Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, in early morning hours, Sunday, June 23, 1929, at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 21 days.
Mr. Warrick came with his parents to America in 1882, landing in Canada; later coming to Iowa, locating near Colfax, where he has lived for the past 35 years.
Although the deceased had been in poor health for the past two years, his condition was not believed to be serious. He was taken to the hospital on Saturday, June 15, undergoing an operation on Monday from which he seemed to recover, until he suffered a stroke which caused his death and which came as a shock to his relatives and friends.
The deceased was married to Miss Laura B. Adams, September 24, 1889, at Perry, Iowa, and to this union nine children were born, seven of whom survive and were able to be near their father. His parents and two children, Ithma and William preceded him in death. The children who survive are: Allen of Colfax, James of Newton, Martin and Marvin of Colfax, Mrs. Jennie Wilson, Mrs. Nellie Smith, both of Colfax, and Mrs. Lauretta Wilson of Melcher.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, two brothers, Jack of Colfax and Tom of Valeria, and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Hill of Des Moines, besides many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. C. H. Miller, pastor of the church officiating. Interment was made at McKeever Cemetery near his parents.
