MRS. J. H. BEASLEY DIED FOLLOWING LONG ILLNESS

Mrs. J. H. Beasley, 69, died Monday night at the County Home south of Newton following an illness of more than a year's duration. A year ago in August Mrs. Beasley had a nervous collapse from which she failed to rally and after ten days at her home in Colfax was taken to Mt. Pleasant for care and treatment. She seemed to recover enough to be up and around and about a month ago was transferred to the home in Jasper County. The past week she had an attack of influenza, which with a sudden heart complication caused a rather unexpected death Monday evening.

Mrs. Beasley had been a resident of Colfax a good many years, coming here when the mines were first opened, with a group of colored families transferring here at that time. She was well and favorably known for her efficiency as a housekeeper and assistance whether in her own home, for those for whom she worked or at the churches, which she tended.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Susie Tuttle of Kansas City, Mo. Her husband, Jim Beasley, died four years ago.

Funeral arrangements were not complete pending the arrival of her sister Wednesday night. ~ Colfax Nov 1946
