Jerry Ingraham, 68, of Colfax, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Nelson Manor in Newton. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27 at the Howard Street Christian Church. The family will greet friends following the service at a luncheon. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Nelson Manor Activity Fund. Condolences may be left for the family at coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Marvin Mitchell and Marjorie (Howell) Ingraham, Jerry was born Oct. 3, 1949, in Newton. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1969. On Aug. 16, 1968, Jerry was united in marriage to Pamela Kintz. Jerry worked with his dad at the body shop and towing, worked at the family DX Station until 1970, and also at Maytag for 30 years, retiring in 2000. Jerry was also part owner of the AutoInn. He enjoyed old cars, especially his 1964 Corvette, going to flea markets, buying and selling storage units. He also enjoyed wintering at his home in Arizona but most of all he enjoyed time spent with his kids, grandchildren and his grand-dogs, Bella and Hank.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Pam; two daughters, Michelle (Jeff) Verwers and Crystal (Brian) Berkey; a son, Ryan (Jill) Ingraham; eight grandchildren, Mason, Chloe, Abigail and Asa Verwers and Jakob, Breann, Emily and Kyle Berkey; two sisters, Chardell (Chuck) Stiffler and Mardell (Jim) Tomlonovic; and a brother, Terry (Jolene Vaux) Ingraham. Preceding Jerry in death were his parents; and grandparents, Alex and Dot Ingraham and Dorothy and Marvin Howell.
