Edith Mae Hutchison died at The Village in Newton, April 17, 2018. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Dawn) Hutchison of Runnells, Larry (Lori) Hutchison of Duncanville, Texas, and John (Colleen) Hutchison of Sacramento, Calif.; as well as seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Margaret Stokely of Richmond, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; and siblings Jean, Helen, Lawrence, Denise and Marilyn.
Edith worked as a farmer, homemaker, teacher and aide. She had many interests, including woodworking, fishing, sewing and cooking. Edith was an avid reader and bridge player. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and extended family.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21 at the United Methodist Church in Prairie City, followed by a burial service at the Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 20 at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
If you would like to make a memorial contribution in Edith’s honor, please do so to The Village in Newton, where Edith lived from October 2010 until her death. Special thanks to all of the staff of The Village who took such good care of her for many years, and to her many friends at The Village. Also thanks to Iowa River Hospice.
