========================================
In the death of Dr. Absalom Washington Adair at Des Moines, January 22, 1907, a well-known pioneer citizen of Kellogg has quit the walks of men forever.

Dr. Adair was born in Clark County, Ohio, September 26, 1828. He moved to Wayne County, Indiana in 1837 and to Jasper County, Iowa, in 1864, where he lived and labored continuously until September 8, 1901, when he located in Des Moines.

Dr. Adair graduated from Rush Medical College, Chicago, in 1857. He afterward took a conspicuous part in the War Between the States, serving as a physician and surgeon of the Fifty-second Indiana Regiment.

Dr. Adair came to Jasper County in 1864 and settled on a farm near the present site of the town of Kellogg, and in 1865, he in company with Enos Blair, platted the town, where, during all the intervening years, until 1891, he made his home and became prominent in the practice of his chosen profession. The name of Dr. A. W. Adair has long been a household word in this community where his kindly presence is greatly missed. His great aim in life was the alleviation of suffering. In fact it can be truthfully said that the best years of his life were devoted to the service of the people of this community. He was a man of broad sympathies, of fine intellect, courteous and agreeable as a citizen and neighbor.

The funeral services were held at the Christian Church on last Friday afternoon, conducted by his pastor, Dr. Medbury, of the University Christian Church, after which the Masonic brethren conveyed the mortal remains of their departed brother to their last resting place in the Kellogg Cemetery. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Saturday, February 2, 1907, Page 1, Column 3
