Obituary: Newton W. Baty

Funeral rites for Newton Walter Baty, 86, Newton man who died at 8:30 a.m. today at the home of a daughter here, will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Toland Funeral Home. The Rev. James Keiller will officiate and burial will be in the Sugar Grove cemetery.

Born Oct 14, 1866, Mr. Baty was the son of Samuel and Rebecca Baty. He was born at St. Charles, Iowa. He lived most of his life in this community (Jasper Co.) and was a farmer until he retired some time ago. Survivors include two daughters, Alveria Cox, Newton and Areil Baty of Lincoln, Nebraska; two sons, Roy Baty, Newton and Clive Baty, Iowa City, and three half brothers, Henry, Ike and Jap Baty, all of Newton. His wife and one son preceded him in death. ~ The Newton Daily News, August 1, 1953.
