Jerry L. Loupee
March 7, 1935 - May 24, 2018

Jerry L. Loupee, husband of Bonnie (Orr) Loupee and beloved father of four, passed away May 24, 2018. He was born March 7, 1935, to Francis C. Loupee and Imogene (McKeever) Loupee in Newton.

Jerry was a graduate of Baxter High School in 1953. He graduated from Iowa State University (B.S., Chem E, 1962). He worked for Hercules Incorporated for 31 years in many states and overseas in Pakistan, Taiwan and Thailand. Retiring in 1993 to Skidaway Island in Savannah, Ga. In April of this year, Jerry and Bonnie moved to Baxter, to be closer to the family.

Jerry was involved in many activities: Baxter HS Alumni Association, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Heritage Foundation, American Enterprise Institute, Republicans Abroad and the Chatham County (GA) Republican Party — where he served as chairman for six years and restored the party in Savannah. He was also a life member of the American Legion, NRA, Iowa State Alumni Association, Republican National Committee, Skidaway Island Republican Club, Clan Campbell Society of America and the American Club in China.

Jerry loved the USA and was a proud patriot and veteran of the U.S. Army. After retirement, he worked with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for 15 years,erving as chairman for the Southeast Area of Georgia and vice-chairman for the State Committee. He was a WO-1 officer with the Georgia State Defense Force.

Always generous, he helped those less fortunate in the U.S. as well as overseas, through donations and charities. He said if you teach your children compassion you have done half the job of raising them right.

Most of all, he was all about family. Jerry was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and true friend to many around the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kayleen Bucklin; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Loupee.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; and his four children, Paul (Tina) Loupee of Brunswick, Ga., John (Julie) Loupee of Pooler, Ga., Colette (Dan) Kunkel and Michelle (Jon) Northrup, of Baxter; seven grandchildren, Hilary Vass of Reno, Nev., Olivia (Tam) Mai of Floriston, Calif., Alexandria Kunkel of Ft. Collins, Colo., Erika Loupee of Atlanta, Ga., Elizabeth (Cody) Warner of Baxter, I o Andrew and Eric Northrup of Baxter; two great-grandchildren, Kayla Vass of Reno, Nev., and Alexander Mai of Floriston, Calif.; his sister, Karon Smith of Frankfort, Ky.; and brother-in-law, John E. (Judy) Orr of Baxter; his step-mother, Mary Loupee of Altoona; step-sister, Becky (Joel) McCarty; step-brothers, Bob (Karol) Butler of St. Paul, Minn., Dan (Pam) Butler of Piedmont, Okla., Stephen (Priscilla) Butler of Altoona and Matt (Melissa) Butler of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

His wishes were for cremation and no funeral. Memorials may be made to: Baxter Community School, P.O. Box 398, Baxter, IA 50028.
