Colfax Mourns Death of Postmaster Weaver
Colfax, Jan. 7 – Special. Our city is in mourning over the sudden death of our present postmaster, J. F. Weaver, which occurred Friday afternoon. Mr. Weaver was taken suddenly, the day before his death, with stricture of the bowels. There were few who even knew that he was sick, and the news of his death spread rapidly. Mr. Weaver had been for twenty years a resident of Colfax, for many years engaged in the mercantile trade. Twice had he received the appointment of postmaster.
As citizen and neighbor he was everywhere esteemed. He had always taken an active interest in politics, and was an influential Republican. He leaves a wife and three children, who have the tender sympathy of a large circle of warm friends.
By this death, Colfax loses one of its most worthy citizens, a man of the strictest integrity and highest sense of honor. The loving wife and the little ones must certainly feel that they have lost all. There was not a truer husband nor more kind father than “Jake” Weaver. The funeral services will be at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon.
