An Old Resident Suddenly Called
Last Sunday evening about 7 o’clock the people of Colfax were shocked to learn that Henry, better known to our citizens as Peter Durocher, had been found dead. While he had been troubled with the neuralgia of late, his people had no premonition of what came on Sunday evening. He went to an outside toilet and when about a half hour later his granddaughter opened the door she saw him sitting there and ran and told the folks that he was asleep. His eight year old adopted son Earl, went and tried to awaken him but found that he had fallen into his last sleep. The end had come so peacefully that he still held his pipe in his hand.
Peter Henry Durocher was born in Centerville, New York, March 25, 1855, and died in Colfax, April 23, 1916, at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 24 days. He came to Iowa 35 years ago, and on February 4, 1895, he was united in marriage to Ella Irwin. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and two children, Earl Durocher and Mrs. Frank Smith. He also leaves two grandchildren. About 29 years ago he united with the Baptist church of Colfax of which he remained a faithful member until death. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon conducted by the pastor, Rev. Moyer.

Card of Thanks – We desire to sincerely thank our neighbors and friends for their many kindnesses after the death of our dear husband and father. Mrs. P. H. Durocher and children.
