Old Seevers Citizen Dies
John Adey Passes Away Friday At The Ripe Old Age of 82 Years
John Adey, one of the old and highly respected citizens of Jasper county, died at his home in Seevers at noon, Friday, in the 82nd year of his age. The funeral was held Sunday at two o’clock, with services in the Colfax Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. F. Cannom. Interment was in the Oak Hill cemetery.
The deceased was born in Durham, England, and came to America 35 years ago. Most of the time since he has resided in Iowa, first in Mahaska county, and for the last 15 years in Jasper county. He leaves to mourn their loss a widow, two sons and three daughters as follows: John, of Bear Creek, Iowa; Nicholas, Seevers, Iowa; Mrs. Ellen Johnson, Nanamo, British Columbia; Mrs. Hanna Belle Eggebrecht, Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Kathryn Gunn, Colfax, Iowa. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Johnson.
