A telegram from his sister, Mrs. J. B. Rodgers in Colfax, was received in this city this morning telling of the death of Ed Manning, whose home was at Bucklin, Kansas.
Mr. Manning was a conductor on one of the southern railroads, but it is not know here what road nor where the wreck occurred.
The message said that he died from hurts received in a wreck, and that his brother Ben Manning of Valley Junction had gone to Kansas and would bring the body here for burial.
Mr. Manning was the youngest of the Manning boys, and is a brother to William and John C. Manning of this city.
A telegram was sent to a brother, William Manning, who is spending the winter in Florida, but it is not expected that he will come for the funeral. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Wednesday, December 12, 1906, Page 1, Column 3
